Did you know that I have a few designs that have music literally spelling out “Ave Maria” (Latin for: Hail Mary)? Connecting the music notes together forms the shapes of the letters so it appears to say Ave Maria. This idea was one of my first sketches of music art in pencil. I made a few versions of it as they all felt like slightly different meanings to me.
(Note that the melody is completely different from the Ave Maria songs you’ve heard, this is my original composition.)
Soon after I created the first few designs, I started writing the whole latin prayer in music, which turned out to be more of a challenge than I expected! I put it aside for a few years and picked it up here and there, but I’ve been about 90% finished for quite a while now. Time has gone by and I’ve learned a lot and grown quite a bit. The need for these designs in this world is strong. It’s not the religious aspect, but the purity of heart and soul and compassion for all that brings about healing, happiness and miracles in people. While I hope to complete this composition and create a new design for it, I know that it will come to me when the time is right.
Here is some extra trivia for you, I wrote this song completely on guitar. Some of the notes will change once I reach the end of the composition phase. In the beginning, my goal is mostly to match the letters to notes than to create the perfect melody. Once the base is completely written, I’ll go back through and arrange the harmony to ensure the music matches the healing effect.
I have a basic idea for the painting, but we’ll see how it turns out in the end. One of my biggest challenges in music art is that it iss hard to paint so much music into one picture!
Until next time, I leave you with some of my Ave Maria artwork and the prayer in Latin and English.
Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum.
Benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and in the hour of our death. Amen.
