Defuse

Help send the message to the world to stop Nuclear / Atomic bomb testing! DEFUSE the whole idea with this painting!

This picture was meant to help bring peace back to the Earth and Mother Nature. Nuclear bomb testing not only hurts people, but destroys our environment. Our quality of life gets changed every time a nuclear bomb is tested. Nuclear testing causes earthquakes, climate damage, dirty weather and health problems for any life in the area. Wind carries the radiation from above ground tests as well, making it possible that people in other countries could suffer from testing.

The goal is global abolition of nuclear weapons, so we must first abolish testing. Only then can we reach for international peace.

Inspiration

This design came as the result of a whole night of extremely realistic dreams of watching nuclear bombs being tested. I saw the earth sink from underground tests, and even felt the searing heat and mushroom clouds of above ground tests. I watched from a distance as military members stood watching the test and as the heat blast overran them and melted the flesh from their bodies. This was one of the most realistic dreams I’ve had, and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. Not even the dream.

Notes

I recommend take a look at the Peace Declaration by the Hiroshima City Mayors of present and past. You can also see links to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum here.

The Mayors for Peace is composed of cities around the world that have formally expressed support for the Program to Promote the Solidarity of Cities toward the Total Abolition of Nuclear Weapons.
